The LibType research project describes the development and testing of a low-cost, low-energy computing platform targeted toward teaching keyboard literacy skills to elementary-aged children in Liberia.

The catalyst for this proposal stems from my experience teaching secondary and tertiary school students programming over the summer and finding a sincere demand to learn critical information and communications (ICT) skills, but severely lacking the basic keyboarding skills necessary to advance through lessons at a normal pace.
